This tool is extremely beneficial in tracking the detailed site activities such as visits, page views, and average time on site, bounce rates and pages per visit. The real strength of Google analytics is the ability to create segment traffic, custom reports and filters. Most of the webmasters use Google analytics to track SEO ranking. Especially, they track the real keyword rankings from the Google searches. If you want to create any new website profile, then first log in to your Google analytics profile and then click on the add website profile button that is located at the bottom of the screen.
After this, you need to select Add a profile for an existing domain and then click on the domain from the drop-down box. Provide the name to this profile such as Google ranking and likewise adjust the time zone setting and after this, click on finish.
Next, you need to create the filter, for this click on filter manager, which is located at the bottom of the Google analytics overview page. When you click on filter manager, there you will get add filter option, click on it and the first filter will direct Google analytics to grab organic traffic. For creating this, you must use some filter settings such as:-
Filter name- Ranking 1
Filter type- Custom filter
Filter field- Campaign medium
Filter type- Include
Case Sensitive- No
Filter Pattern- Organic
Always make sure that you add the filters to your new Google rankings profile, not to your main profile. Now, click on save changes. When you create second filter, then it should guide Google analytics to grab Google traffic. For this, the filter settings should be changed like instead of ranking 1, select ranking 2 and instead of campaign medium, select campaign source, in case of file pattern instead of organic, select Google. The rest will be same as in the first filter.

Always add this new filter to your new Google analytics profile so as to save you from uncertain difficulties. After this, select save changes in order to save whatever pattern you have selected.
Again the third filter will guide Google analytics to grab the position of the link with in Google’s SERPs and save this change as a user defined position in Google analytics. After this, you need to assign filter order, where by clicking on edit you will get filters applied to profile section in order to check whether filters are in order or not, if not then click on assign filter order.
Now, from the Google analytics page, you select on visitors and then you will get user defined which will tell the keyword and the link through which user reached your site. In this way, Google analytics help to track the SEO rank.
